Online learning tools and support

NHS Education for Scotland and Health Education England have collaborated to develop this eLearning module. It takes about 30 mins to complete.  At the end of the module you will know why health literacy is important and how to use some simple techniques including TeachBack, chunk and check, using pictures and simple language to improve how you communicate and check understanding with others. After each section you can complete an action plan of how you intend to use the techniques in your practice. You can use this plan as evidence of your learning in your Appraisal or professional portfolio.

This eLearning package is now available at: https://learn.nes.nhs.scot/26672/health-literacy

As the module tracks your progress you need to sign in with your Turas username (your email address). Anyone can register for a username.

There are other online learning courses available from various other parts of the world, it should be noted that these courses are not necessarily endorsed by NHS Education for Scotland or the Scottish Health Literacy Groups. You may also wish to consider issues when transferring learning to a Scottish setting dependent on the context.
